I LOVE the spalted Ricky thing.
The Tele pickups start screaming long before the Wood hums.
It does look at little spalted but it's Black Limba.

Send it back. Too much money for all those issues, and i'll bet there's more to come. No schematic? WTF? It will be cheaper and not much more work to do it ypurself.

Re: More virtual amp propaganda

I've always been a Strat guy. My first electric was a Strat copy. Then in '80 I bought a Les Paul. Tried to bond with it but no joy. 5 Strat's since then. Current and final lineup is an original '66 and the Paulownia Strat i built last year. It's perfect. No need for more, or parts swapping etc. I'v...

Re: New Amp Build, Sine wave at Speaker Output, No sound

Signal at the jack, and no sound means the speaker or cable is bad, or the jack is missing the return (if your scope is using the chassis as a ground.
That square wave indicates an overdriven amp, if it had a sine wave input. Hi power and no load equals disaster.

Does the bias on the grids remain stable? And the plate voltage doesn't drop excessively on conduction?

Re: Fender Supersonic 112, sorting out the source of the hum/hiss

Check the code on the reverb tank, or Ohm it out, to determine the grounding of the in and the out. Then look at the circuit to make sure the grounding strategy is appropriate. The tank may be wrong for the circuit.

Re: Glue on the filter caps

In case anyone else has struggled with storing a partly used tube of silicone, my go to methods for the past few years are: Stretch a piece of electrical tape over the opening then screw the cap back on, making sure you didn't trap any air inside. Or, if you don't have electrical tape, squeeze out ...

Re: '69 Sunn Sceptre questions

I don't often see discussions about the Sonaro. It was designed to be a bass amp. Very simple but heavy combo amp. I played bass in a C&W band during '67 and '68. The band owned all the equipment. The bass rig was a Fender Precision Bass and a Sunn Sonaro. I was studying electronics in a trade scho...
