How do you set the Brite switch on your Express
I was wondering how folks set the Brite switch on their Express? I'm very curious on what you when using single coil vs humbuckers. Glenn seems to get a really cool, almost single coil sound when he sets up his Express with his Les Paul, but I'm wondering if this would be too Brite with single coils.

Re: Question about trainwreck performance....
I was wondering if anyone has looked at the output with an oscilloscope to see what was going on, eg. sag or waveform collapsing at max output?

Express Touch Response
I have been working on my Express Clone for sometime now, tweaking and tweaking. I have tried different Output transformers, tubes and speakers and have settled on something that sounds and "feels" great. I use the Pacific OT, with EL34s going into an open back cab with a G1265. It doesn't have huge...

Re: So, GK's clone walks into a bar... (clip content, 4 songs)
Glenn, Sounds fantastic! If you don't mind sharing, I'm curious about a couple things: a.) Did you use a power attenuator and if so what kind? b.) What schematic did you base your clone on? c.) Which output x-former did you use? d.) What was the EQ curve you added on the low end, because it smoked. ...

Re: Brad Paisley interview on jamcast feb 08 rocket, zwreck
That was great to listen to. I have seen Brad play out and it looks like he is using a TW, but this wasn't mentioned on the interview. Does anybody know if he is still using the TW and what model it is?
Thanks,
Robbie

Re: Express mod question
I know this may be a bit of a heretical post but I was wondering if I could get some help. I love the responsiveness of my clone, and the singing controlled feedback kind of thing, but my LP is a bit loose in the low end when it comes time for rhythm type stuff... You are not alone. I have run into ...

Re: SSS - Nukular Warhead - Chassis are Finished
There has been a bit of posting on that subject...the filter switches are either 7 or 11 position depending upon the amp...the most info is probably here- https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.php?t=412&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 I hope this helps. Thanks... I had seen this thread before and t...

Re: SSS - Nukular Warhead - Chassis are Finished
I too have seen bits and pieces of the SSS kind of revealed, but to date, the one part I see missing is the Lo/Hi step filtering. There are a lot of hints, but that's all. Even if someone were to publish the center notch freq ,Qs and db cuts, this would provide some guidance on how to move forward. ...

Re: SSS - Nukular Warhead - Chassis are Finished
The chassis looks great! Now I have to ask, how is it going to get filled? I don't see any SSS schematics around to actually build the amp?
Thanks,
Robbie

Re: Best Output Transformer
Hi folks, I was reading Mercury Magnetic website and ran into this FAQ. I was a bit surprised. I always thought that the saturation aspect of the transfomer offered the dynamic non-linearity that not only shifted frequencies around, but also provided some "give" to the amps response. I thought this ...

Re: Best Output Transformer
This is great dialogue. I however am still scratching my head as to what OT gets closest to Glenn's tone. One thing that seems clear to me is when I look at the output of a power amp when overdriven, the waveform signature is revealing. I have looked at many Fenders, a couple Marshalls with Mercury ...

Re: Best Output Transformer
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I have tried an array of speakers and tubes, but the most interesting thing that Glenn pointed out was his use of the (2) 18' cords in series. I ran a couple calcs and came up with the following loading numbers for the cables then ran a quick simulation to see what ...

Re: Best Output Transformer
Hi Moose, Thanks for the response. I remember looking at the various options on your website and I ended up settling on the vintage OT. When I scope the output, at the onset of OD I see: a.) Attenuation of low end response via the falling trailing edge of the waveform. b.) A duty cycle shift resulti...

Best Output Transformer
Hi Folks, I've been listening and reading a lot about output transformers and have come to the conclusion that amps that use power amp distortion rely to a large degree on the OT for their tone. I am using a Toneslut OT in my Express Clone. While it sounds good, it doesn't exactly match the dynamics...
