Thanks Tony. I think I'm leaning toward your advice. Usually I like a little breakup in my cleans, but with big powerful thick amps, I think super clean might be the mod to do. Although, at lower levels the Plexi has a pretty glorious sound imo and plenty loud.

I have a 100 watt tranny set, a Plexi faceplate/chassis, a pre-populated 1959 board and a bunch of components laying around from various other builds. I've built about 6 amps so far. holy crap! another one. i actually thought it sounded good as a bass amp...i'm not much of a bass player though. anyway, you have to strip out all the shiyt. I got new OT for the Komet 60. so, i was thinking
would it be possible to do a bad cat style clean channel on this amp? seems like all that it would use is the spare 1/2 tube and mate it into the pi. double input style. has anyone thought of this or done it? seems like that would be the ultimate.

thanks, that is what i thought in regard to the choke.
what do you think about putting a resistor in there ala Trainwreck. Is the choke just that much better? What resistance should one use?

For the choke, I have a hammond 156G laying around. Would this be appropriate to use?
