Thiele 806 cabinet
RJ, I don't think I've ever heard G12-65 speakers in a ported cabinet and I was unable to find any thiele specs so my guess is that they might not be appropriate for that usage. If the manufacturer comes up with VAS and Q measurements though, let me know and I'll run it through box response software...

Thiele 806
You will need VAS and Q mesurements if you want to re-tune the box for a different driver. The manufacturer might already have them. Here's a better site than the one I previously posted: http://www.madisound.com/services/hifispeakerdesign.php The other consideration is whether your new speaker is s...

Changed the dimensions on a Thiele 806
As long as the volume remains the same you are basically good to go. There are some other considerations regarding ratios to avoid reinforcing resonances but it's probably not a major factor in a guitar cab. There are several online sources for designing ported cabinets if you know the specs of your...

Can't confirm how well it works since I have not used it yet but Harbor Freight has a similar product . . . don't know if they ship to Australia. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=44810 Someone else posted who had used it, but I couldn't find the reference. Maybe someo...

Ear Plugs
I've been wearing custom molded plugs for about 17 years, used foam plugs prior. In my experience all plugs cut highs to some degree relative to how much attenuation they provide, but the custom plugs provide a flatter response than any of the foam plugs I've tried. I have custom Etymotics with chan...

SS Relay Tone
I'm new to the SS switch usage and can't comment from firsthand experience, however since the mosfet is used as a switch rather than as a gain device and the switching is optically isolated, I would think the SS relays would be even better than standard relays in regard to minimizing any negative to...

Re: SS Switch For Komet Fast Gradual
Yes, switching the Fast/Gradual on the Komet is the application. Was thinking the change to the Huss circuit using a different opto would work and require fewer components . . . the opto, a resistor, a cap and a diode. Anyone see problems with the simpler circuit?

No need to parallel the inputs to the switch, series should be fine

PS7141-1C-A is the "Active" part
You're correct that the Huss circuit implements a 1 normally open, 1 normally closed dual switch but requires the transistor, voltage divider and a diode to make it work since the PS7141-2A-A is a 2 channel 1a + 1a output part. Both channels of the PS7141-2A-A are the same . . . No input current pre...

SS Switch For Komet Fast Gradual
I noticed in researching the PS7141-2A SS switch that Mark Huss uses in his "MOSFET Audio Switch", here's the link to Mark's switch: http://mhuss.com/18watt/schematics/MosfetSwitch1_1.gif There is another version of the SS switch, PS7141-1C, which is the same switch, only containing a normally open ...
