Re: Can (ex) manufacturers post ads for stuff they're selling?
Thanks! I am putting the list together and will post it in the ads. Small taste: Tools (triplett 3444 gmho tube tester, tektronix 4476 scope with test attachments, weller solder and rework stations, craftsman roll away, function & signal generator, vtvm, transformer impedance testing tool, couple of...

Re: Starting a storefront
And you'll need lots of gear to do it, and I am just the guy to get it all from at liquidated prices. My advice on a much more serious note is to not make your hobby that you love into a job that you could potentially hate. Nice thing about corporate jobs are all the benefits, and when you go ...

Can (ex) manufacturers post ads for stuff they're selling?
Hey, I closed a small manufacturing business and am selling off parts/tools/etc. I have been trying to find out if I can post a ad in the advertising section, since I know there are lots of home/hobbyist builders here. The advertising section clearly says no dealer ads. Could somebody who is capable...

Re: Egnater Rebel 20
I discussed a little bit of DC power scaling with Bruce Egnater after loading up on day two. He told me "...that's nothing new, I've been doing that for years." I was bug-eyed, and he sounded casual and sincere. If anybody doesn't already know, DC scaling uses discrete regulators on each node, follo...

Re: 2008 LA Amp Show
I agree mostly that the big guys don't build the amp they could - I just still struggle with the concept that anybody could make one better. Any of the usual DIY suspects? (do a delta between the amp building sites and you'll get the list) - No question about it, especially when you factor in sites ...

Re: 2008 LA Amp Show
I had no idea Tonic were your amps - I would've come by and said hi! Although I have to ask you the million dollar question, do you still believe people can build a better amp than they can buy? Best of luck, and I'll swing by at your next show - the amps look awesome, and I'd love to hear them! Kil...

Wanna group buy some push-pull pots?
We have run out of supplies of CTS push pull smooth shaft 1M audio taper 3/8" solder lug pots. Bummer for those of us who use them... We've talked with CTS in Taiwan, and have worked out the specs for a new pot to be manufactured. Apparently these have not been made for some time. We have spec'd the...

Re: switching plexi between shared and split cathode on V1A/V1B
There might be on the jtm45 yahoo group. If there's not, I can pull one together for you. You really want to switch the NFB too... as it will be too high for a plexi (meaning less gain) if you want to do this right. If you do all three, you will have a decent plexi sound. A switch for a solid state ...

Re: switching plexi between shared and split cathode on V1A/V1B
A SPDT switch will work, if that's all you're doing. Disconnect the jumper on V1 pin 8 to pin 3. Connect the SPDT common to pin 8 of V1. Run a wire from V3 to one side of the switch (leaving V3 connected to the existing RkCk), and run a wire from the other side of the switch to your new 2k7/680nF by...

Toss the CAD, and get on the Alibre Design bandwagon. Once you do solids, you'll never look back. It's never been cheaper or easier to use!

Re: Speaker combination with and Alnico Blue
I wonder... If the bad speaker goes dead open, then the remaining speaker is now twice the expected impedance (for instance you have two 16ohm speakers wired parallel, amp set for full output into 8 ohms). The load reflected to the primary is doubled, so the primary impedance is doubled (the amp is ...
