What a cool looking build!

It looks like the cone is still good and it's just the dust cap missing. If the cone is not damaged, I would seriously leave as is. Replace the dust cap and you'll have a great speaker. I have never heard one with a re-cone that I liked over an original.

Those caps are made by F&T check the datasheet. It says TYP A which is a product line of FTCAP. I'm not arguing ad infinitum, you are.
