Re: This Hurts My Eyes!!

Relays love being treated like that. Like abused spouses rationalizing “deep down he/she really loves me.”

Re: So They Are Really Building New Amps Under Dumble Name

All those minutes and not a bit of overdrive from the new Overdrive Special :?

Re: Have about had it with CE Distribution

Have had the same conversation with them. Best they will do is tell you who didn’t make them.

Re: Beginning my Liverpool build!

If I put it on a switch I may notice it but hardwiring it didn’t make me think differently about the amp. I’ve had more issues without grid stoppers there so I usually go with around 1k in most things with any appreciable gain but my ‘Pool has the 820. Also has the Pacifics like the latter Wrecks so...

Re: Beginning my Liverpool build!

The Dan Boul clip with Express Ingrid sounds badass with the added .0022 but I didn’t like it when I added it to some builds years ago. As a LP guy pretty much exclusively I tend to prefer things a bit leaner much of the time and in that spot it doesn’t take much more to start to be the detriment to...

Re: Beginning my Liverpool build!

I've been reading some things about using a 68k instead of 150k. I'm doing this. But there's also references to a 2n2 cap and possibly removing it? Can anyone shed information on this one? I’d go with 68k/.0022uf. Mine’s a little different with tube rectifier, choke and 6SL7 for V2 but those values...

Re: Beginning my Liverpool build!

Thinking about buying one of those Modulus shazeez for my ‘Pool. Currently have the amp built in one of the Watts Tube Audio boxes. I’m guessing the iron you’ve got has a field unlike that of the typical style Pacifics and it has made the typical layout unusable. Always lots of white noise in these ...

Re: New JJ 6v6S very odd issue

I don’t buy the JJ 6V6s anymore, even Apex matched which is standard from CE. Sucks about the price difference against all others but too many have shown up very microphonic and CE won’t take returns based on that since JJ doesn’t consider that a defect. Just had a heater to grid short in one that’s...

Re: Jim Weider Bassman ODS.

Workmanship and components look like it could be a Krinard. Was just inside a ‘73 Deluxe Reverb that he worked over. Something that never should’ve been released into the wild. At least those appear to be soldered connections. FWIW: I would be surprised if it was a Krinard build, it's a bit too nea...

I can only imagine since I missed it that the OP was like watching my first build’s tube rectifier melt down in front of me..

How’s This For Rare?

Can’t find much of anything about these on the Google. Reverb had one. Never seen or heard. Labeled “Bass Amp” but like most comparable electric suitcases of the time is shite for bass and sounds very nice dimed with a Les Paul. Rectifier tube was frosted so I pilfered the one from my AC15 build and...

Re: Kitchen Sink Trainwreck

Those are some nice bells and whistles. Nice build too. I imagine they work particularly well with the Express circuit. I’ve been considering options for a customer’s request for serious attenuation of the EF86 AC15 circuit and have been considering power scaling. He wants to retain the clarity and ...
