Looks absolutely incredible! How did you customize the faceplate?
Thanks! I CNC engraved the aluminum, color filled it with black paint, and then sanded off the excess.
I love it!!
Same!

My 50 watt Wonderland/Fairfield Special

After working on this on and off for the past year and a half, I officially put the last few dabs of solder down and finished up my 50 watt Wonderland/Fairfield Special last night. This project was so much fun. I'd basically head out to the garage after my wife and girls went to sleep to work on it ...

Re: Cabinet questions

Ok, so forgive this very primitive markup. :? :) Is this roughly correct? Screen set back apprx 8mm or 3/8” from front of cabinet. Chassis set back apprx 1 1/8” from front of cabinet, and about 1/4 from the cutout above it. I just want to be in the ballpark so it doesn’t seem completely off, LOL.

Re: Cabinet questions

Thanks, Tim!

I wanted to mark up a pic I have to help make it more clear, but couldn’t quite figure it out in the iPhone.

Cabinet questions

I’m getting ready to start a head cabinet for my amp build but wanted to ask a few questions before I get going. Are the grill cloth screen below the chassis and the front of the chassis usually set back the same amount from the front of the cabinet? In some pics it looks like the front of the chass...

Re: AN Wonderland/JM 100w layout

You can certainly omit it but the amp is really quiet even with the EFX loop. If you are using coax I think you'll be just fine I totally agree. Not too difficult to put it in while building and this amp makes your modulation effects sound spectacular. Seriously, El Cap is amazing in this circuit's...

Re: AN Wonderland/JM 100w layout

Is there a particular reason for the ground points marked as Ground at Send/Receive? Where is located that ground point? I was thinking on grounding all filter caps at the same point. That means running the ground up to the furthest point away from the chassis which is right at the send/receive jac...

Grounding the reverb transformer

Hi, everyone. I’m just about ready to put the boards in my JM Sig/Wonderland/Fairfield County, and one of the odds and ends I need to take care of first is grounding the reverb transformer. I don’t have any more room in these ground tabs at the reverb RCA’s. I was going to use a wire brush in my dri...

Re: John Mayer’s 50 watt ODS

Thanks, guys! Looks like a 2nd gen Overdrive Special. See: https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=12870 Wow! Incredible thread! Thanks! I can’t help you on what’s inside, but I can say it sounded magnificent live a few weeks back! I saw him live for the first time last year during the solo ...

John Mayer’s 50 watt ODS

Hi all. I’m just curious here, but do you know what “style” or era (for lack of a better term) of ODS John Mayer’s 50 watt ODS is? He’s been using it on the solo tour and used it with Dead and Company. This picture is from “johnmayergear” on Instagram, which also notes it was previously owned by Car...

Dress nuts for mini-toggles

I’m currently installing the hardware on my chassis and ran into a bit of a puzzle on the mini-toggles. With the dress nuts fully tightened there’s still some play on my mini-toggles. Should I just thread the two interior nuts forward a smidge? Is there a standard order of operations for installing ...
