What do you all do with extra parts and prototype leftovers?
Hey folks, I used to spend countless hours on this forum back in the day, digging through threads for information, schematics, and general amp-building fun. I learned a ton here, and now I’m back doing a little shop cleanup and could use some advice. I’ve got a mix of extra amplifier parts and some ...

Re: Seems that TAD 6L6WGC is discontinued... Suggestions
Try EH, Tung-Sol (also EH), or JJ 6L6's, they should work fine. I have tried several brands many years ago and I preferred the TAD short bottle 6L6WGC's I'm wondering if anyone has found something tonally similar. So for example the JJ 6L6GC is much less mid forward to my ears. I'm looking to not h...

Seems that TAD 6L6WGC is discontinued... Suggestions
I have been playing the Dumble clone you guys helped me build for over 10 years now and I have always used the TAD 6L6WGC short bottles in there. Replaced them twice. Now that they seem to be not in production any more (Well, I can find them but they are a bit expensive) what is the current producti...

Re: Dialing in your plate voltage and tubes (NON HRM)
I swapped some tubes and have played the amp out a couple of times. I think I am starting to feel comfortable tweaking the tone with tubes and voltage. I settled on a sovtek LPS in the PI. This tube did drop my PI voltage to around 185 on the input side but it had great harmonics and brought back th...

Re: Dialing in your plate voltage and tubes (NON HRM)
Last night playing with a 4 peice jazz, funk, improv thing the amp felt pretty good. I noticed more clarity and it cut though a little easier that it had before when I was running it around 185 on the 1st preamp tube and 270 on the PI. You know that feedback thing that these amps do even on the clea...

Re: Dialing in your plate voltage and tubes (NON HRM)
I got my mouser order I may still need to order a couple of values to raise the voltages a little (I thought I purchased enough range of resistors to get up to 290 on the PI). The string is 1.5k, 22k, 2.2k, and the fet simulator 150k . The voltages are: CL 186 190 OD 198 200 PI 280 286 I am headed o...

Re: Dialing in your plate voltage and tubes (NON HRM)
Here are some pics of my rig. I use this for funk, reggae, and blues gigs I have. My main band is The Groove Patrol. There are no dumble tones on the site but there will be some day. www.thegroovepatrol.com . This is what I will be working with. Signal Chain Guitars: 2006 335 Fat neck w/ Gibson Pick...

Re: Dialing in your plate voltage and tubes (NON HRM)
Cool guys. I will have to get that 124 schematic. When I get the resistors I will comment on what I think of the voltage changes. I figured out why my cap is larger, it is really a .0047 not a .005. I will change that. More to come.

Re: Dialing in your plate voltage and tubes (NON HRM)
I had to order some resistors to get my PI in the right range. I will comment on the results when they get here. Thanks for the help guys!

Re: Dialing in your plate voltage and tubes (NON HRM)
Ok, the bias feeds are 200k, not 100k or 10k (I can see that you cant see the red on that set of resistors in the pic). 200k is the value I have on the ODS 101 Non Hrm schematic, and in terms of the layout the bass cap is on the far left and the mid cap is to the right of that. The bass cap is a .1 ...

Re: Dialing in your plate voltage and tubes (NON HRM)
The EQ section is the skyline (Layout is obviously wrong thanks Scott). I do not have the LFB in CL2. CL1 220k/3k3 w/ 4.7uf CL2 150k/2k2 w/ 4.7uf OD1 220k/3k3 w/4.7uf (.01 coupling)(layouts wrong again?) OD2 150k/2k2 w/ 5uf (.005 coupling)(layouts wrong again?) My snubbers are 330pf, Dogears I don't...

Dialing in your plate voltage and tubes (NON HRM)
I am beginning the process of dialing in a Non HRM 100 watt in a Funk chassis. When I try different tubes the plate voltage can swing by up to 15V or more so for example with one tube I may get 193 on CL1 and with another I may get 178. 1) Now is the change in tone I am getting between these two tub...

Re: I'm gonna try a Larry Carlton style live rig
Stelligan,
That set up looks great. I was wondering what you notice about using this setup live compared to a conventional set up where wet and dry signals are mixed in the same cab.
Thanks
Brook
