Re: A Little help Needed To Identify
The idea stems from what Fluxtone is doing... Not using the field coil as a choke but feeding it a variable DC supply to get the SPLs down. I may not do it... I may just use it as a choke in the PS and leave it at that. I just like to take the opportunities given to experiment when the stars line u...

Re: A Little help Needed To Identify
Great! I scored some good stuff here... and no I did not kill a whole organ to get it.... Even if you had dismantled an old Hammond, you needn't feel any guilt IMO. If I had a truck and some strong helpers, and the ambition, I could intercept a half-dozen Hammonds on their way to the landfill every...

Re: A Little help Needed To Identify
My guess would be a Hammond Electric Organ amp.
I had parts from a Hammond (M-2?M-3?) amp that looked similar -I used the field coil speaker to rebuild a Valco amp.
AFAIK- Hammond organs have nothing to do with Hammond Transformer Mfg (Guelph, Canada) - different companies.

Re: Resistor Size Deceiving
I also order from Fleabay Chinese which have been good leads and large body 1w & 2w. I just had a look at those 'bay listings and noticed that many of the resistors listed as CF/carbon film are actually metal oxide- some actually show the metal oxide label on the bag in the photo accompanying the '...

Here are a few pics...victubeamps wrote: From Terry at Seaside:
17” x 7” x 2.5” in 14 gauge aluminum - $40 CDN ($28 USD?)
Shipping was reasonable (what I figure his cost would be plus a couple of bucks for the packing, no more). He can do 12 gauge for a few dollars more.
Bottom panel/plate was $8.

More details needed by the uninitiated folks like me...drew wrote:Aside from the layout/grounding tweeks discussed in your build thread, is this a stock 5E3?
Is this the Suppluxe or another amp?
Link to the build/schematic etc. ? Thanks!

That's the same version of Firefox I'm using with Win7.dkochan wrote:Firefox 43.0.4
I'm still getting a 'not allowed because of malware' block with Chrome, so can't check with that browser.
EDIT: Just checked with IE and your 'broken link' example is working fine there.

Dave:
Search is working OK for me with Win7/Firefox and when I click on your 'broken link' example I get the correct page.
Which OS/browser are you using?

Re: Reasonably Priced Aluminum Box Sources?
Any rough idea what a basic box about 20" long would go? From Terry at Seaside: 17” x 7” x 2.5” in 14 gauge aluminum - $40 CDN ($28 USD?) Shipping was reasonable (what I figure his cost would be plus a couple of bucks for the packing, no more). He can do 12 gauge for a few dollars more. Bottom pane...

I have some chassis on the way from Terry at Seaside. The New Steve H wrote: I think Seaside would work, depending on what they charge.
I thought the prices were very reasonable, and they would be even more so, if you are paying in US dollars (The US dollar is buying close to $1.50 CDN these days...).

Ported cab for 1 x 12?
I need to build a speaker cabinet - something fairly small to take a 12" speaker so I can connect head amp projects, or use as an external speaker for small combo amp projects. I had a 2 x 12 cab but it was too large and a bit heavy for convenient use around the house and shop. I've heard some good-...
