Re: DeArmond Amps (Moved)
These are indeed sweet amps.. Kind of refined fender tweed amps,, more main filtering on the 6v6 plates, larger transformers, and slightly lower coupling caps..It keeps the fender tweed sound but with a tighter bass ,, Leon C built a sweet clone of the Dearmond R15T, GO check his demo on youtube,, W...

Re: Screen resistors - please weigh in
Old thread, but here are my thoughts.. If the tubes are operated within specs in terms of max plate/screen voltage, from the same supply line, and biased at sane levels (60% of max at idle for a grid biased amp), with a small resistance (100-500 ohm) in the B+ screen supply line,, the value of those...

Re: 6V6 OT Impedance
I agree with pdf64... At 3.3K primary impedance with more than 400V on the plate of those fixed bias 6v6gt tubes you will over-dissipate if you try to play the amp loud.. Unless you bias it stone cold but then you amp might sound worse.. I think your amp sounds better at 3.3K at low volume because y...

Re: 65amps Ventura cathode bias ?
I guess 65 amps found out that higher plate voltage, larger value cathode resistor is not a great idea if you like to dime the amp.. A Fender 5e3 tweed deluxe with a 360V plate/320V screen has a 250 ohm bias resistor. It ran its vintage 6v6gt tubes really hot. The ventura around 322V plate (302V tru...

Re: Push-Pull Without a Phase Inverter
It seems to clip pretty nicely..When I play it loud through my open back 1x12 with a Celestion G12H it distorts pretty nicely when dimed.. I think Mr Brown has really optimised it as good as he could.. It must be the balancing of the cathode bias resistor value (91 ohm) and the grid resistor (47 ohm...

Re: Push-Pull Without a Phase Inverter
Hi,, there is one very cheap asien made guitar amp that uses such a stage.. Designed by James brown who once worked at peavey and made the peavey classic series.. He has designed the kustom tube amps.. The defender series.. There is one that is called the defender v15, or 15h. I have bought such an ...

Re: Transformer choice for 6V6 Express
Interesting thread.. Primary impedance values seem to differ a lot. One guy reported that he preferred a Push pull 6v6 amp with 415V plate and 410V screen with a load of 4K. He first tried to double the value of the speaker impedance by moving the 8 ohm speaker to the 4 ohm out so the pair of 6v6 sh...
