Re: AirBrake with remote bypass?
The build featured in the thread listed below might also give you some ideas... I much prefer the sound of this to any of the master volume or power scaling efforts I've attempted. It might give you an idea of how you can do this with a simplified version of an airbrake built into your amp... that ...

Re: AirBrake with remote bypass?
Not sure that an Air Brake is a good match for a Plexi; what's it's VB+? F***ing around with the load on a screaming amp is asking for potentially damaging levels of flyback to frolic around the OT / power tubes; not destined for a long service life. The AirBrake certainly sounds stellar - much bet...

Re: AirBrake with remote bypass?
To be honest, I can't figure out why a pro guitarist needs to reduce volume for rhythm by switching an Airbrake? The human, or the pro in this case, in the loop should be able to accomplish this very easily. It's part and parcel of playing the guitar IMO. If I were you, I'd tell him to get more pro...

Re: AirBrake with remote bypass?
Thanks rj, The idea with the short is good! My friend wants the AirBrake to sit back where the amp is, and switch it from the front of the stage, which is why I think I need a relay. If just used a simple footswitch, I'd be running the speaker signal out to the footswitch and back to the AirBrake ag...

AirBrake with remote bypass?
Hi! I recently built an AirBrake for a friend of mine, using the plans from here and parts from Mouser. It works very well, and my friend (who's a pro guitarist) uses it a lot to tame his Plexi Marshalls. So far so good! He asked me if there was a way remotely bypass it, so that he can knock down th...

Re: Make Bluesmaster OD Channel sound more like regular HRM
Thanks guys! We've fiddled with the HRM trimmers, which did help a lot, and also now use the OD in conjuction with the PAB (on both amps), which is also a good thing! We'll try clipping the mid HRM and see wht that does, but my feeling is also that the two amp sounds can't be combined - maybe a new ...

Re: Make Bluesmaster OD Channel sound more like regular HRM
Thanks for the prlies everyone! And, just to be clear: we're talking about Ceriatones here! As I've never played a real Dumble, I have no idea how they compare... I've tried comparing both the diagrams posted here and the ones on the Ceriatone website, but it's not as if the differences are small! U...

Re: Make Bluesmaster OD Channel sound more like regular HRM
Hi! We had both amps side-by-side last night, and did a lot of comparing and tweaking. First, the obvious differences: The "Regular" HRM is a head and cab build, the BM a combo. I built the cab for the regular HRM myself, using plans found here (I think), whereas the combo uses a Tube-Town cab. Same...

Re: Make Bluesmaster OD Channel sound more like regular HRM
Hi! Is there a reasonably easy way of making the OD channel of a Ceriatone HRM Bluesmaster sound more like the OD channel of a regular Ceriatone HRM? All while not changing the sound of the clean channel! Cheers Es What I do is change the boost so that it is of the old "treble-lift" type (which is ...

Re: Make Bluesmaster OD Channel sound more like regular HRM
The bluesmaster DOES have negative feedback, it goes from the presence pot via 100k resistor at the PI end of the board to the 4 ohm tap on the output. Marcus Hi Marcus, Sorry, I meant the switchable bit of the circuit between V1 and V2. My amp, the regular HRM, has this, and while I can hear a sub...

Re: Make Bluesmaster OD Channel sound more like regular HRM
Thanks!
We'll try those settings next week and see how far we come. Do you adjust the PI voltage by ear, or use some set values?
Does the NF circuit, which the BM doesn't have, make a difference?
We have a regular HRM to compare with, both amps have EV12L speakers.
Cheers

Re: C-Lator Indicator / Pilot Light
Nice rig too
I'll probably build a Dumble-style cab for it - I've built to cabs that turned out really nice, so I've got the practice I guess!
Cheers

Re: C-Lator Indicator / Pilot Light
Thank you!
Was the polarity after all... I thought I checked 3 times before soldering up, but I just swapped the wires, and now the LED lights up!
Thanks for the voltage chart - I'll check that out at the weekend!
Cheers
