Re: chinese Kits
I've been using a Weber power tranny since '08 in a couple of builds. Right now it's a 6G3 or "Lenore". No problems for 6 yrs. I like the 125V primary tap as I have 125 VDC at the wall in my house. I also built a couple Weber kits for friends and told them "the Chinese transformers are fine!" I hope...

Re: 5F10 Harvard Triple Inputs
I built a Weber 5F2H (harp amp) and I was afraid of trying to tool the stainless, but it's not hard to drill. I did resort to getting a machine shop to make a large hole for an additional octal socket for the pre-amp. I don't know whether that was money well spent, as the holes I drilled for mountin...

Re: 5E3 bridging input jacks with switches
Right now, I'm shoehorning a 6G3 circuit into "FrankenGarnet". Weber's "Lenore" 6G3 kit has bridging on the inputs with a slider switch. Check it out on Weber's kit pages....

Re: 5E3 bias
If you wanted to cool the bias a little, you could try a 300ohm resistor next. What I've done to "split the difference" is run two 560ohm resistors in parallel. I ended up with a 283ohm resistance.

Re: Vibrolux vs other black-face amps
Other than the transformers and output tubes, the Deluxe's pre-amp runs at lower voltages, like 180V instead of higher voltages to the 6L6 amps' pre-amp tubes. My friend tried a "Custom Vibrolux" model and didn't keep it. A lot of people want to mod theirs because the circuit is not much like a real...

Re: ping musant @ high voltage on 6V6's
I ran a set of "International Service Master" 6V6s from China or Russia in my '65 Deluxe Rev. for 15 yrs or so, in spite of their bad reputation.

Re: Replacing signal caps during "blackface" mod
I'd leave those shiny blue caps alone. Why not staple an envelope into the inside of the cab with your important circuit info? The amp might even be more desirable with the 6V6s!

Schematic for "Hoso 56"?
Where can I find "Hoso 56" or some of these other AC-15 based amps such as the Matchless Lightning or even the TC-15?
