Re: Help! Fender Super Noise
Well, the original owner/builder got back with me. He's out of town until Friday, but he offered to take it back or fix it for me
I think I'll get my money back and build my own.

Re: Help! Fender Super Noise
That is really bad wiring :!: There are so many area's of concern that I would suggest a complete rebuild. Yeah, fortunately that's the cheap and easy part for me. It's got Mercury and Hammond transformers, Hammond choke, etc... The board and parts won't be too bad to buy. I'm so irritated that i d...

Re: Help! Fender Super Noise
I should also say that the wiring and solder joints are amateur at best but solidly connected. I'm actually thinking of redoing the whole thing, because I can;t stand knowing it looks like it does.

Re: Help! Fender Super Noise
Its a handbuilt 5F4 about 2 years old built from the original schematic and layout. It sounded nice, if a little harsh for the few minutes it was working. I got a harsh buzz for a couple seconds before I managed to hit the power switch. When I turned it back on the power tubes wouldn't light and I h...

Help! Fender Super Noise
I just bought this a couple days ago. I turned it on for the first time yesterday and after about 3-5 minutes of half volume or less the power tubes died. I replaced them and now I am getting a noise no matter if something is plugged in or not and the controls (except the treble) have no effect. Sou...

Re: Newb wants to build his first amp
I'm working on a '51 Valco Supro for someone and it's soo much fun. I'm ordering 2 sets of tubes for it. One for replacement the other for my build. This is a pretty simple amp, but sounds so good. Anyone ever build one?

Re: Newb wants to build his first amp
Also, does anyone have a process they like for coming up with a good board layout based only on a schematic?

Re: Newb wants to build his first amp
Yep, transformers are great. These amps had a bit of a bad design and the hi-wattage resistors were too small and didn't dissipate enough head, so they wold eventually char the board if they were pushed too hard. Before I took everything apart, I rebuilt that section of the board on a small Radio Sh...

Re: Newb wants to build his first amp
Thanks :) The pic is of the amp I have. I'd like a master volume, but not necessary. Definitely B/M/T controls. No need for an effects loop. I have a nice Hammond 3-spring reverb tank but I can go without. I guess Id like a good circuit to learn on, but capable of clean to mean with my guitar volume...
