I know it was just a camera mic, but did it sound like 50K to you?

the shipping would KILL you though, so you probably would rather use some of the great woods down there, like black acacia

Re: here's a pic of my custom Paul Ruby amp

thanks kindly for the comments! Paul was great to work with. As soon as I told my friend Sam I'd ordered a Rocket based amp, he ordered an Express from Paul. Then when he played mine, he ordered another one like it. :) I had a friend at my last job who is a woodworker. We had a decent shop, so I got...

Re: Coming soon: Rocket!

I was inspired by John's amp to have Paul build me one, pics of which I'll post in another thread.

Great amp!

Re: Rocket Group Build project

great idea!!!

I fell in love with johnspeck's Rocket that Paul built, and he says that amp sounds great.

there does seem to be less info on the Rocket, so it will be interesting to see what brainstorms folks come up with.

Re: Speaker recommendations for a Rocket-based amp?

thanks guys ... I appreciate it! john, thanks ... the amp you posted had a lot to do with my choice ... mine should turn out similar to yours, so I appreciate the feedback I'm leaning toward the Celestion Blue/ G12H combo, or a Weber Blue Dog alnico/ Silver Bell alnico combo. One advantage with Webe...

Speaker recommendations for a Rocket-based amp?

Howdy all. I have a custom built Rocket based amp on order, and it should be done soon. It looks like I will likely get an Avatar vintage 2x12 cab. As of now, I'm leaning towards a combination of either a Weber Blue Dog alnico/ Silver Bell alnico, or Blue Dog/ 1230 ceramic (G12H type). I'm going for...

Re: Interested in having cabs built? I need a rough count.

I agree that a cab builder should set the asking price. I usually don't repond particularly well when someone asks me how much I am willing to spend. don't get me wrong ... I expect the builder to make a fair profit. It's just that I have no idea what a fair price would be. If others knew as little...

Re: Interested in having cabs built? I need a rough count.

Ron, very nice cab just a suggestion: I'd suggest that it would be better for the builder to come up with a realistic ballpark price range to see if there would be any interest. most amp builders who don't have cabinet experience don't know what market prices for hardwood are, or how much labor is i...
