why so many Fender Princeton Reverbs for sale?

I've thought lately about buying a used PRRI so I figured I'd check the going rate on ebay and was surprised to see so many old and reissue's at any given time for sale. There are so many positive reviews on these that it would seem like they should be hard to come by. I do realize some may be over ...

Re: Fender DRRI tone

My goodness, I'm just loving this amp more and more. I think I'll just leave it stock and keep on enjoying it the way it is. I can really see now why so many people love these amps.

Re: Fender DRRI tone

I'm no DR guru, but an easy mod to try would be to increase the value of the 0.022uF coupling cap out of channel 2 stage 2 (C12 on the DRRI schematic), which will increase the low end as opposed to reducing the high end. I say easy because all you have to do is parallel another 0.022 (say) across C...

Re: Fender DRRI tone

thanks for all the comments, for now I'm just going to adjust the bias hotter and get used to the amp and enjoy it before I do any mods. That way I'll be more likely to notice the mod changes.

Re: Fender DRRI tone

here' the pic's of my new amp. Tried it out some more tonight and it sounds very nice at around 2-1/2 to 3. Even though the brightness adds a certain sparkle/shimmer on ch 2, I still would like to get the deep bass on ch. 2 like ch.1 has. Hopefully clipping the cap will do that. It really is nice to...

Re: Fender DRRI tone

Went down to Tampa yesterday to pick it up. The guy selling it bought it 4 yrs. ago and barely used it so it was a bit dusty. Cleaned it up and it's like brand new. Even got the original sales slip since it still has a year warranty left on it. Paid 525.00 which I consider to be a good deal. Must sa...

Fender DRRI tone

Does a Fender DRRI have a fairly good bassy low end? All the clips I can find tend to make them sound weak in the lows and lacking warmth. Especially in comparison to the PRRI. Don't want another weak thin bottomed amp. Can't find any local to try and I have a chance to get a good deal on one locall...

Re: Marshall 9100

[quote="roberto"]9100 has two pairs of 5881 and two completely separated power supply. I had the 9200 and it was a bit colder than standard marshall power amps, but with tons of definition and a stiff low-end. If it doesn't need to be retubed, 275$ is really cheap![/quote I read somewhere that the p...

Re: Marshall 9100

1st... Lacks lowend? Grrrrrr.. and LMAO. Rebias EL34. Change couplers to .1uF. $275? I'd buy one for that. heh I've read a few reviews that it was sterile and had no low end. It came with 5881's. I have a quad of new Winged C's but I don't think they'll clear the cover unfortunately. Which caps are...

Re: Marshall 9100

I'm sure there was a design fault documented for these. Something like the bias supply being the wrong side of a fuse ?? i.e potential for the power tubes to lose bias in an unrelated fault condition. Might be worth checking into and budgeting for a modification. I read that the schematic is correc...

Marshall 9100

I might have a chance to buy one of these but I'm not sure if it's a good amp or not. From what I've read, Marshall's lack in the low end, especially these ones and the 5881's are less desirable than EL34's. Some seem to like these and some hate them. I prefer an amp with a chunky low end. Thin ones...

Egnater Tweaker 40 Combo Lacks low end

I got a chance to try one of these out at GC today and I was a bit unimpressed. For a 6L6 amp , I really expected a better bottom end out of it ( like a Hot Rod Deluxe) but instead it sounded rather thin, even with the bass knob cranked. And while most tube amps seem to open up when cranked up, this...
