Re: How to Mod a Carr Slant6v Lead Channel
I still have not modded this amp, what I was looking for from the drive channel was to make it less Marshall and more Dumble like.

Re: De-solder tools
Also, a great trick with braid is to get the solder flowing and actually drag the braid through the work. The braid typically has enough flux to suck the solder along and moving the braid helps with getting that solder to flow nicely. For sure, When working on tube amps I mostly use a chisel point ...

Re: De-solder tools
Solder wick always works for me...the solder suckers all tend to break down or are hard to get into some areas.
The trick is you have to have 3 different sizes of solder wick and use the correct iron and tip for each.

Drive channel drawing
Here is the Carr Slant6v drive channel at the bottom v3 and v4. The circled components have pencled next to them the value of the component in my amp compared to this schematic which is the 2004 version of the amp. I am still looking for any ideas to get this channel to smooth out. CarrSlant6v.png

How to Mod a Carr Slant6v Lead Channel
Anyone have an idea which amp model schematic I could use as a starting point to trial and error mod the lead channel of a Carr Slant 6v.
This is one of the early one and with 4 tube stages I can't believe how poor it sounds, original preamp tubes and no mods done to it yet.
