Re: My 1964 Super Reverb has volume drop....any thoughts?
I appreciate the replies. I have used deoxit on all the jacks before, but have not taken most of the other steps mentioned. It might be as late as the weekend before I can really do much with the amp. I am looking forward to trying all of the above. I am hoping I do not have to take it in right now.

Re: My 1964 Super Reverb has volume drop....any thoughts?
Thank you for the quick reply. I did try another rectifier tube, but still had the same problem. There have been times I thought I had it beat, but if I play long enough it is always there. It seems like once it starts happening, it becomes more frequent. It usually does not happen til I have been p...

My 1964 Super Reverb has volume drop....any thoughts?
I have a 1964 Fender Super Reverb. The amp sounds great except that after playing for a little while, the volume drops. Then it kind of goes between normal volume and dropped volume intermittently. I do not mean like tremolo, the amp goes down in volume for 2-20 seconds or more. I tried new tubes (p...

Re: Looking for help identifying a vintage Fender case
Thank you Structo, the accessory box being in that odd location is the thing that confuses. Did Fender make their own cases? Could they have made a generic case? I mentioned the case size in an earlier post, does anyone know if that determines anything? I really appreciate all the help so far, but I...

Re: Looking for help identifying a vintage Fender case
Thanks Reel, I appreciate your help. I am pretty convinced it is a Fender, and your input makes me feel better about it. I had never considered that a lefty case might be different. The only thing that bothers me is that even the electric XII case I have seen had the pickbox in a different place. Bu...

Re: Looking for help identifying a vintage Fender case
P.S., my camera does not accurately show what the lining looks like. It looks different in person than in these pics. I know that doesn't really help, but....

Re: Looking for help identifying a vintage Fender case
Thank you for your reply. It may not be a Fender, but it uses the same Cheney latches that the original vintage ones used. This is not from the 80s or 90s. The interior is exactly the same as a Fender bass case I had from 64-65. That smell and look cannot be duplicated. They made many different case...

Re: Looking for help identifying a vintage Fender case
Thanks for the reply. The case looked like it had held a Fender based on the impressions. They were there before I put that Fernandes in there. I have looked at many photos of Fender guitars from this era, but I have not seen a case quite like this one.

Looking for help identifying a vintage Fender case
Hello, I know this is supposed to be about tube amps, but I am hoping this is something I could get help with. I picked up an old case, and I think it is a Fender. It has the old case smell and Cheney latches and I am confident it is legitimately vintage. It looks like the logo-less cases of 1964-65...

I tried the amp with another cab and didn't have the problem.

Re: Thumping in my 2x12 cabinet, what might be the cause?
I should have also mentioned that the thump happens a moment after the sound comes from the speaker. So like this, I hit a low E, then mute. A moment later I hear the thump.

Thumping in my 2x12 cabinet, what might be the cause?
I have a 2x12 cabinet with two vintage EV SRO speakers in it. When I play through it, I can sometimes hear a "thump". Typically it is when I play a muted low note. If I play and immediately mute, I can often make the "thump" happen. It does not seem isolated to one speaker or the other. Could this b...

Re: 5E3 Modifacations
I have a 5V4 rectifier tube, would that be any better to have in the amp? Would a tube substitution be a good idea?

5E3 Modifacations
Hi, I have an amp that is basically a tweed deluxe clone with a couple of differences. I think it has a choke. In the pictures you can see what looks like a small transformer or choke. What you cannot see is that on the outside of the chassis there is both a power and output transformer. The filteri...
