Re: Santana Amp KIT? anyone?
Sure you CAN mismatch tubes. Is it a good thing to do? No. Boogie is weird about using plug-and-play tubes rather than adjusting the bias voltage. If your amp has not been mod'd for adjustable fixed bias, I'd certainly consider it. no bias here all stock! yeah I'm sure its the tubes; the amp sounds...

Re: Santana Amp KIT? anyone?
Wow bummer that you are having problems already on your amp. First thing to do is replace the fuse with the proper rated slo blo fuse and try the amp again. Sometimes the fuses get weak over time. If it blows again, then you have more serious problems. I think this amp has SS rectifier right? If so...

Re: Santana Amp KIT? anyone?
You're welcome. That'll be $65.  Heh, makes me wonder if the person selling that amp couldn't figure out how to fix it. Happy New Year! Yeah no kidding!! So I changed the fuse; I played for about two hours and no issues what so ever!! This amp sounds amazing and I'm not even using any ...

Re: Santana Amp KIT? anyone?
Many times a Slo Blo fuse has a thicker looking element inside it. Like this. [img:300:300]http://musformation.com/slowblow.jpg[/img] Or it can have a solid looking porcelain look to it. [img:240:240]http://www.usspaparts.com/images/605551105.jpg[/img] Not sure if they say Slo Blo on them but it is...

Re: Santana Amp KIT? anyone?
If you find a MKI at affordable price, well go on, yes ! for you - beginner in tube circuits - it is a bit simpler than the MKIIA due to its "single channel" operation. I would say that sometimes you find MKI and IIA in the same ballpark, but usually the MKI brings more because it is Santana-relate...

Re: Santana Amp KIT? anyone?
Yes you should. I know that some will disagree, but the casters are always unstable - the amp may roll alone or worse : fall front or back - I have seen that and serviced several "caster-fallen" amps : a real pity... Put it on its original big rubber feets, offer him a padded cover (1/2" damping) if...

Re: Santana Amp KIT? anyone?
Congratulations! I hope you enjoy the amp. Do yourself a favor and don't use those wheels unless you want a premature failure. thanks! I tried the amp and it's amazing!! It's the tone I been wanting!! So I should take the casters off? How can they harm the amp? Is it by dragging it on them? I won't...

Re: Santana Amp KIT? anyone?
Hi Anthony, The link works this time - good choice - so go for it ! Even the price is correct as is. It's a pity that this amp is not in EU... You won't be deceived : it has the tone you're waiting for (the best of the original MKIs, which were not always consistent), it's recent, so no "tube amp t...

Re: Santana Amp KIT? anyone?
I've attached some short clips of the C-tone Overtone Special 50W. It's not meant to be The Santana Tone  I just thought I'd record something to see if this amp could get you closer to what you're looking for. This is not the kind of sound you usually associate with these amps, nor is it the ...
