Re: Power tube and speaker magnet proximity
Now that was an ambitious follow up test to my post Martin. Kudos, nicely done and very telling of some effect regarding the proximity. I don't have the level of software testing that you do but, when its time I'll be able to at least look at waveforms for any deviation at varying proximity. Should ...

Re: Power tube and speaker magnet proximity
Whatever speaker I end up using, I figure there will be at least an inch of clearance between the 2 EL34's and the speaker magnet. I'll probably be very inclined to inject a sine wave and compare the input to the amp speaker output as I vary the orientation of the chassis from way out, to all the wa...

Power tube and speaker magnet proximity
Just want to mention that it was good to come around to some info and experience on issues that can arise with Power tube and speaker magnet proximity. In my current build I came face to face with placing a pair of EL34's that seemed to have no choice but to find themselves very close to the speaker...

Re: Difference between - Neo Creamback and Neo V-Type
Hey Reeltard, I have crumbled under the pressure so, yep. The speaker baffle is easily removable by 6 screws which will make it easy to insert a 3/4" baffle spacer of sorts in between that. Between gaining 3/4" and getting a speaker with less depth that should make plenty of room for a pai...

Thank you for chiming in with this good information.
This will give me something to look at for a while!

A transparent quality FX box for serial amp FX loop
Hey there, This recent amp build with be my first having a high voltage serial effects loop. For the most part, I'm primarily looking for good quality Reverbs, Delays, with maybe some time based effects like chorus with a little modulation - "Don't need "200 different effects to choose fro...

In prepping for a lower power AC30 sounding build
Hello, I am in a locally popular Beatles tribute band (4EverFab) in the New England area and have built Fender and Marshall amps that I use often with my classic rock bands however, this Beatles tribute band could use some real Voxish amps for the earlier Beatles stuff. I built myself and the other ...

2 vintage 30's for a Scumback BM75
Heyo, After some critical listening I'm left very convinced that a Scumback BM75 is going to suite the genre's best within the classic rock bands I'm playing in. I have both a well broken in V30 that came in my buddy's amp (Carvin V3M combo) that he donated to me for a JCM800 2204 build, and I also ...

Re: Trying mystery NOS tubes out - no tube tester nearby
Thanks very much darefugee, if I were near Tampa I'd take up your offer in a heartbeat.
I have other tubes also that I'm really curious about, old Mullard EL34's and others who's current condition I'd really be interested to know.
Thanks!
Best
Phil D.

Re: Difference between - Neo Creamback and Neo V-Type
Thanks 10thTx, I suppose that is totally a possibility, It just seems like that would take 10x more planning and work than either drilling two more tube socket holes or replacing a speaker. This week I'm going to look at the chassis real good to see if there is anymore electronically sound positions...

Re: V30 for NEO Creamback - V30 wont fit amp build
Thats OK Roe, was worth a shot! I'll find something. Maybe I'll even see if there is another place to place holes for an EL34 pair but, its a small chassis and I'm not feeling sure I will. After all, I did really want to hear what a tried and true V30 sounded like with this amp, even if I hated it -...

Re: V30 for NEO Creamback - V30 wont fit amp build
Hi Roe, Thank you for that description and it is right in line with other comments on the speaker. I'll do a trade with you for the V-Type NEO if you like. (only the NEO version will fit in my amp). I like the part a description that says its more like a V30 with a little Greenback but the high spik...

There is no problem.
Its about the tone of a speaker.

Re: Difference between - Neo Creamback and Neo V-Type
I probably should mention that this donor combo that I'm building the 2204 amp in is a very small open back. (Carvin V3M combo). The back panel is open about 4-5 inches along the bottom of the back panel, not in the middle.
Thanks
Best,
