From the tube line up this unit has I would think it could handle 50 watt set up like a pair of 6L6s, 5881, KT66s, EL34s but I think 535 B+ is too high for those tubes.
Wish I could come up with solid specs on this PT though.

Stancor 743 PZ, 306 105 Power Transformer
I picked up this big old lab quality audio generator the other day for tubes and parts. The tube run down is -one 5U4 -three 6Y6GBs -one 6L6GB -four 6AU6s -two 6AG7s -one OB2 -one 6E5 eye tube The Power transformer is a nice big one and is a Stancor 743 PZ, 306 105. I have been searching the net for...

Re: Keneko Music & Mfg Co. Fostoria Ohio Amplifier, info ?
Took the amp apart and check some things, caps etc and very surprising she was all original and found nothing out of spec. Crazy! I have a `48 Masco MAP-15 I am restoring right now and almost every single cap AND resistor is leaking or out of spec in that turd! Played this amp tonight for the first ...

Re: Keneko Music & Mfg Co. Fostoria Ohio Amplifier, info ?
Ahhh thanks! There is some info. Would love to see some pictures of yours if you can post em. What brand is yours? I would think the amp is early `50s or very late `40s from the tubes and components used but I could be wrong. I was thinking lap steel amp as well. I have seen a lot of lap steels with...

Re: Keneko Music & Mfg Co. Fostoria Ohio Amplifier, info ?
What model Gibson does this resemble? I have not been able to find anything info at all on this amp nor anything that looks close to it. I would assume if it was built by Gibson there would be some sort of markings on it like Valco did with the Oahu or other branded amps. This just says Keneko Music...

Keneko Music & Mfg Co. Fostoria Ohio Amplifier, info ?
I picked up some nice stuff the other day and included was a very cool Keneko Amp from early `50s. It is a small amp, with an champ type set up. Has a cool marbleized bowling ball finish on the outside. It was built in Fostoria Ohio which is close to me in Toldeo so that makes it pretty cool for me....

Re: Can a power transformer be TOO BIG for a build?
Well, you really just repeated what I said LOL As far as my original post, the question was aimed at using a larger 6V6 based PT in a smaller 6V6 circuit. I would not even try to use something like a 6L6 based PT for 6V6s even with a similar current rating. The voltages will be too high despite high...

Re: Can a power transformer be TOO BIG for a build?
Interesting thread and I recently got educated on this myself when I converted an old PA amp from 6L6's to 6V6's...the lighter load made the B+ and filament supply voltages go too high so I changed the cathode resistor back to a 6L6 value and installed new 5881's this evening and the voltages look ...

Re: JTM60 1-12" combo low volume issue
If the amp has effects loop in and out jacks poke a plug in and out of each 5 to 8 times and see if the signal level comes back up to normal. Did you swap preamp tubes around to see if it changes the issue or better or worse? Yup did that like 20 times. Left that jumpers in place and indeed you can...

JTM60 1-12" combo low volume issue
Hey guys I have a JTM 60 combo here with low volume otherwise sounds and functions fine. I have cleaned all the pots, switches and tube sockets. Tested tubes, checked voltages here they are. Re: Can a power transformer be TOO BIG for a build?
Thought of that too but seems most of these run 6V6s and the larger tubes usually want higher voltages then a 6V6 PT puts out.Regan wrote:I would go for it,, you could always jump up to a bigger power tube that will use some of that extra capacity. Maybe kt88 single ended in both?

Re: Can a power transformer be TOO BIG for a build?
I have a couple guys interested in amps from the AX84 site. One wants a P1 extreme, it is basically a hot rod fender champ with more gain. I built one with a 6V6 and everyone around here is goo-goo over it. Another guy wants a high octane which is similar but with a single ended EL-84. As you can se...

Can a power transformer be TOO BIG for a build?
Here is a question I was wondering about and have not had luck getting a solid answer. I come across all kind of old tube amp stuff in my collecting and have PTs of every shape and size. Sometimes I come across PTs from consoles that run both the amplifier and a tuner (radio) full of tubes. These us...
