Re: Friedman dirty shirley
I know it's been a while, but I've got some information on this amp if anyone's still interested. The circuit is very similar to the CAE crunch mod, or second channel on the CAE 3+ preamp. There are a few different values here an there, but the topology is practically the same.

Re: Friedman "Naked" Amp - Ideas?
I had a Laney AOR50 head, that was modded to 2204 spec (and a thousand other specs that were in and out of it ... it was my test mule). I did the Naylor SuperDrive thing to it (relatively easy), and tried it with both a Marshall type presence feedback circuit, and the Naylor type presence feedback ...

Re: Budda SD30 to Naylor SD60 preamp?
Thanks for the link Gaz. Regarding that thread: Yeah, I'm not sure about those 10ohm bleed resistors in the power supply either … that value does seem low … but I was just trying to read off the components. The 1k/50watt series resistor is what was in there though. It looks like they finally figured...

Re: Budda SD30 to Naylor SD60 preamp?
That's cool. I was just curious. I wasn't really sure i got the switching circuit right … so that's mainly why I was wondering. They are nice amps though.

Re: SD60 build completed! Clip...
I built the SD60 into my Laney 50watt chassis for a while. I'm kinda sorry I took it out. It's probably the best it had sounded. I think better than the BE100 circuit I have in there now (although 50 watt). The Egnater seminar circuit sounded really good in there too. Anyone have any specific info o...

Re: Budda SD30 to Naylor SD60 preamp?
Did either of you guys ever draw up a schematic of your EL84 SuperDrives? I always wondered what they did in the smaller versions. I have a schem that is mostly correct for the 80w version. Similar pre to the Naylor, but cathide biased quad of 6L6s and paraphrase PI, different loop, etc. Thanks! Hi...

Re: Please Help - red plating, hum, vol reduce - Blackheart 100w
Hey guys,
Just wanted to let you know I returned the amp and ordered another one. I decided I just didn't want to deal with it, so hopefully it was just a lemon and the one coming will be good to go. Thanks for all your help.
Eric

Re: Please Help - red plating, hum, vol reduce - Blackheart 100w
I'm not! It's something about the grid feed to the redplating side. I have a 50 that lost a feed from being knocked over (full stack) and that happened. Electron storm of 200% magnitude in good side, no signal and redplate bad side. My mule pulled that on me about a month ago after twiddling with t...

Re: Please Help - red plating, hum, vol reduce - Blackheart 100w
Racing, Thanks for the suggestions. I replaced the coupling cap on the "push" side between the PI and the grid block resistors of the power tubes ... but when I powered the amp on to test it, it crackled and popped much more than before. I then turned the MV all the way down to make sure I wasn't he...

Please Help - red plating, hum, vol reduce - Blackheart 100w
Hey everyone, PLEASE HELP! Hoping I can get some ideas and troubleshooting advice. I have a Blackheart BH100H that's giving me some problems. Here are the symptoms: * One pair of power tubes is red-plating. It is the "push" pair, and it seems like it might be volume dependent ... meaning the problem...

Re: clean switch
yeah, that oughta work too, but you don't have seperate volume control over it.

Re: clean switch
Yeah, That's the Komet preamp, and the switch is called "touch response" switch. You could use a relay for either idea. The thing about my idea is you could have a seperate volume control for each preamp, which in my opinion would be better for channel switching. You could also use a relay to diseng...

Re: clean switch
You could use the unused half of the 12AX7 for a new/clean second stage, and then leave the existing second and third stage in tact so as not to mess with the lead dress ... then possibly switch between the two. You think that would work?

Bow,
Welcome to this board. I have not info for you regarding Sambora or Komet, but I thought due to the lack of response to your question I could at least say, "hi". I hope you find the answers to your questions. Hopefully some members here can help. Good Luck.
