I know it's been a while, but I've got some information on this amp if anyone's still interested. The circuit is very similar to the CAE crunch mod, or second channel on the CAE 3+ preamp. There are a few different values here an there, but the topology is practically the same.

Regarding that thread: Yeah, I'm not sure about those 10ohm bleed resistors in the power supply either … that value does seem low … but I was just trying to read off the components. That's cool. I was just curious. I wasn't really sure i got the switching circuit right … so that's mainly why I was wondering. They are nice amps though.

You could use the unused half of the 12AX7 for a new/clean second stage, and then leave the existing second and third stage in tact so as not to mess with the lead dress ... then possibly switch between the two. You think that would work?
