Re: Super Connie 30 transformer questions.
Super Connie 30 = Komet Constellation type amp ;) The OT has two sets of secondaries and a center tap. Which set of secondaries isn't being used? The inner two or the outer two? The Constellation doesn't have a secondary lead to each output tube, it has a brown lead going to one center tube and a bl...

Super Connie 30 transformer questions.
Back to building my Super Connie 30 which utilizes four EL84 output tubes and solid state rectifier. Not sure which PT secondaries voltage leads to use and not sure which OT secondary leads to use. The pictures I have of the original amp has the a brown and a blue OT transformer lead going to the mi...

Re: Marshall JCM800 - 2204 build preamp problems
Wayne,
Did you also perform the bias-feed resistors change from 220k to 100k that is recommended? Were you using the 6550 tubes or the EL34's?

Re: Marshall JCM800 - 2204 build preamp problems
Wayne, Once again, you may have nailed it right on the head. I had the chassis sitting directly on top of the speaker cabinet and it wasn't inside of its cabinet, so it didn't have the head cabinet or its rubber feet to help absorb some of the vibrations. It actually did seem to occur only when a ce...

Re: Marshall JCM800 - 2204 build preamp problems
Wayne, From all your mods to the JCM800, what would you say was the total effect on the amp? I'm getting a bit of oscillation when I turn the master volume pot. No specific pattern though. I've checked the pot with an ohmeter after taking it out of the circuit, and it appears to go open irrradically...

Re: Marshall JCM800 - 2204 build preamp problems
Cameron, you are THE MAN. I've looked at this thing until I was ready to take a hammer to it. I forgot the ground wire at the 470K resistor just as you mentioned. It is VERY loud now and has more gain than I ever imagined. It's pretty darn quiet too as far as noise goes. I'm going to play through it...

Marshall JCM800 - 2204 build preamp problems
Hey guys, I decided to try my hand at a JCM 800, 50-watt, 2204 clone. As you might guess, I've run into a snag. I used the Ceriatone layout found here. http://www.ceriatone.com/images/layoutPic/marshallLayout/JCM800_2204Ceriatone.jpg Upon power up, I get an awesome, crystal clear, clean tone. No hum...

Selecting the correct choke?
I'm trying to order the last parts for my Connie build, and I don't have a clue what type, size, etc. of choke I should order. Is there a formula for calculating the correct choke?
Thanks,
Andy

Komet PT help.
It has been suggested that the power transformer for my Connie Clone should have 250-0-250 or 260-0-260 VAC sec at 250-300ma. Where can I find a transformer like this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Recommend an acoustic for me - $1500 price range
You can buy a brand new Taylor 314CE for about that. I bought mine used for $800 that looks absoluteyl flawless and sounds awesome. It has its own eq on the top side and is a single cut away. I wasn't in the market for an acoustic when I bought mine, but the tone was just so sweet, I couldn't let it...
